According
to the Lewis Model, cultures can be classified in Linear-active, multi-active
and reactive. Depending on the characteristics a culture will fit in one
dimension. Qatar can be considered as a multi-active because is a warm,
emotional, loquacious, impulsive, collective, religious, unpunctually and flexible
(in some cases) culture.
If a Qatari
Citizen moves to Barranquilla, he only would get some problems depending on how
much he respects|follows his religion, because even when both cultures are
similar in some aspects, have certain differences that would make him feel
weird. For example, the clothes, in Qatar, women don’t use mini-skirts or tank
tops but in Barranquilla that’s normal. If the Qatari is more open minded,
he would feel interested in discovering a culture less restricted, but, if he
is sensitive to the Islamic Law, he would feel uncomfortable.
